The maltreatment of orphans in our societies today, especially in some underdeveloped countries with no strict laws against man’s inhumanity to his fellow man, is quite alarming. 50℅ Of hawkers on the streets, and on the highways, are orphans whose lives have been put at risk by those who took them as housemaids or housekeepers.

Sometimes they have been molested or abused sexually as they have been exposed to dangers on the streets and even in the houses where they have found themselves. Sometimes, the simple ability to eat after several hard labors is a problem and this calls into question the fate of these young people -once loved ones- whose parents are no more.

Their lives were in danger even before the outbreak of Coronavirus. If they were taken as prisoners and slaves when there were things to eat, what happens now that all places are in lockdown and there is a scarcity of things to eat? Have you in any way, considered helping any orphan around you at this time by sharing your bread with him?

Remember that caring for orphans is not optional. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to help those who cannot help themselves. for Christ said: “Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto Me”
